OT: Is anyone as sick of me as I am of Kalen?
« on: September 27, 2021, 06:15:23 PM »
There was a time when I was surprised that people weren't waiting for my every thought. I'm just so damn clever. I get it now. Thanks K.

Is there a solution out side the scope of common courtesy that might get some of us to tone it down a bit?

I took this 2-3 years into marriage. My wife followed and we celebrate 29 years of marriage next week:

Barney,

You and my wife would likely get along well.  Hang in there!  ;D

P.S.  I've just been a chatty Kathy this weekend, point taken.  Thanks for the reminder!

For both of them at the same time? Ugh.
I think someone is pining to be a replacement for Garland Bayley and start a grudge match

I had a bad feeling about this thread. I’m more damaged than I thought if i’ve been pining for that!!!

Peter,

I'm all about spreading peace, love, and harmony in this sacred room.

Lord knows there's enough craziness outside of here.

I have to admit now that every time I see a post of yours I think of Carl Rogers, the famed American psychologist who originated the non-directive client-centred approach to therapy and emphasized the relationship between therapist and client as key to healing.
*That* Carl Rogers was born near Chicago in 1902 and died in La Jolla California in 1987. I don't know if he played golf too, but I'd like to think so.

Will defer to a Clarence Darrow anecdote that summarizes my feelings on the matter:

Mr. Darrow, following an outburst, handed a note to his opposing counsel:

I called you an ass it is true and I am sorry for it.

He looked at the attorney, handed him the note while saying, "But, please, sir, punctuate it yourself.".......... ;D ;D ;D

Barny,

Although your "Twatis Enormi" (a little known Latin term) internet persona is 180 degrees from the erudite and genteel "person in person," I always make sure to read your posts; expelling rapier pith with such an economy of words is an art form that seems impossible to somebody (moi) who takes 500 words just to clear his throat.

What I *am* "sick of" is the parade of nouveau tight ass, finger-waving, guardians of lockstep smugness, diluting the beurre blanc with corn starch and canola oil.

We need an influx of Johnny Thunders, Hamilton B. Hearst, Anthony Gray - and a triumphant return of the great Pat Mucci!

More clever turns of phrase - like the Clarence Darrow line (A+) - and less pedestrians filling out the field with deadly dull anal . . . ysis.

Barny,

Although your "Twatis Enormi" ...

Your spell checker failed to correct Barny to Barney, and twatis to twitis.

It is my recollection that Jaka b spelled it "Barny."

When pressed for an explanation for his latest nom de plume - on the way to the KP at Barona Creek KP many years ago - out came an actual autographed picture of Barney Frank from his golf bag.

Needless to say, I felt triggered and needed to find a safe space in the bar . . . . .

If you don't know the difference between twatis and twitis, I cannot help you.

Thank you. That is exactly what I might do if I have to read another 20 posts by Schley before the end of the day.

I still think about that glorious three days when the Ignore List worked correctly. If I remember right, it worked for a few days after the forum transitioned to its current software. Some guys complained that the setting would hypothetically stifle a certain amount of open discussion and I assume that led to a choice to disable it before we'd even tasted its potential upside. I would love to bring it back, personally.

The damn thing was I could still choose to view an ignored post, and often did. More like a trigger warning than a hard censoring.
