ARCIS acquires Mickelson portfolio

Does anyone have details on this purchase?  Rumors locally are that it is Wall Street money behind it from sources similar to those motivating the Sale and Leaseback of several former Club Corp properties over the past year.  It would be interesting to know the price for the package.  I understand that some of these deals are being done at real Cap Rates exceeding 5%, which seems to indicate that the investors are looking for above-inflation related upsides in both operations and the eventual resale.

And in case jeffwarne and others think it is none of my business, my home club has been under contract to Arcis for some time with the suggested closing date slipping a month.  In the meantime, with the clubhouse closed since February and sitting at a standstill, the natives are getting restless and some of the better members of the staff have left or have lined-up other jobs.

What interested me was the description of the Rim course - 5,000 feet elevational change ?

Niall

The Rim Golf Club (Payson)

Nestled in Arizona's spectacular Mogollon Rim Country, The Rim Golf Club is a Tom Weiskopf and Jay Morrish design, playing 7,200 yards along forested fairways woven through dramatic rock outcroppings and the largest stand of Ponderosa pines in the country. The natural elevations—up to 5,000 feet—and native vegetation enhance the strategic challenge of the hazards, with water coming into play on six holes

I don't think 5,000ft is the elevation change within the golf course itself, but rather the approximate elevation at which the golf course property sits.

I'm with DT...nowhere does it say change. I would read natural elevations as backdrops, although 5K feet is a lot of elevation!!!!
Coming in 2024
~Elmira Country Club
~Soaring Eagles
~Bonavista
~Indian Hills
~Maybe some more!!

Fired up Google earth and confirmed the course is located at approx. 5k feet.  For the course itself, only a couple hundred feet of elevation differential (~4750-4950)

Writing is on the wall for long term profitability.  In the deserts of North America….the gig is up.

David and others,

I don't doubt you are correct, however how does the backdrop enhance the strategy of the hazards ?! Perhaps not the best or clearest bit of blurb writing I've read.

As I have never been there, I cannot answer your question. Given that the course is called The Rim, my guess is the course does offer some impressive views, but I have no idea if those views have any impact on how the course is played.
