YOK 5 in Rome, Wisconsin (aka The Sandbox)
« on: August 13, 2021, 10:00:49 AM »
Previous YOK Threads: YOK 1 New Buffalo | YOK 2 Green Lake | YOK 3 Rome | YOK 4 Rome

YOK stands for Year of Kevin, and is a humorous salute to his postponed, 50th-birthday year and celebration. It was originally slated for Philadelphia in 2020, but when pandemic hit, we pivoted and here you go.

YOK 5 is the third course of interest in Rome, Wisconsin. Not quite as taxing as the ones seen in YOK 3 and YOK 4, it is quite memorable and fun. Have a glance.

The Sandbox has 17 golf holes. Without actual measurements, I would guess that it fits into the same scale of property as Bandon Preserve. How did it get to 4 more golf holes? Most of them are fairly short. The neat thing about TS is, each hole has a swing tee and a putt tee. If the course isn't crowded, you get to play 34 holes. Nothing like banging putter from 25 yards and watching it swaddle along the topsy-turvy turf, on its way toward the flagstick. TS is absolutely fun golf. No egos on the line here, just cheering for each other. Make an ace and you take home a small shovel as your prize. For folks who haven't played earth golf (as opposed to sky golf) a tour of TS is a good way to get used to what is to come on the bigger courses at Sand Valley.
