We had the distinct pleasure of playing Youngstown Country Club yesterday. From the stunning first impressions of the 1st and 10th holes viewed from the putting green, to the classic clubhouse, the vintage half-way ( diner-esque ) shack to the fun and challenging Travis/Ross course, the experience was wonderful and memorable. We had no idea of the Travis origins versus Ross re-design, but that was of little import as the course is terrific. Despite being unaccompanied guests, we were treated as members. Following golf, the Butler Institute of American Art is equally world class. Yes, all in Youngstown, Ohio. A utterly marvelous day trip from our respective hometowns of State College, Johnstown and Pittsburgh.
