This year's event is at our home club and it started yesterday.
We have two players staying with us for - hopefully - the week as it ends Saturday.
https://thewesternamateur.com/In a WGA "Con/Am" charity event on Sunday, I caddied for the #2 ranked (was #1) amateur in the world, Pierceson Coody, grandson of Charlie Coody and last year's winner at the event. He is a great kid and was very engaging and relaxed with me and the 3 players in our group. (Yes, I paid HIM (Donation to the WGA) for the privilege of carrying his bag...;-)
Friday/Saturday matches will be streamed on Golf Channel.
Great opportunity for GCA-ers to see Glen View Club:
1. 1897 laid out by Tweedie.
2. 1913 modified by Colt/Ross.
3. 1923 redone by Flynn.
4. 2000 work done by Dave Esler
5. 2012- present ongoing work by Jim Urbina
Playing to a Par 70 @ 6925, the low score through 1.5 days is 65.
(Par 72 for members.)
I was a walking scorer yesterday (and tomorrow).
Heading back up there shortly with my wife to watch the players staying with us play their back 9.
Really fun time.
