The Forsgate photograph highlights the two humps at the front of the green that form a V.  On the plans Banks refers to them as "deflection plates."   He also used this element at Knoll West, notably on the first green where there are two parallel plates set perpendicular to the line of approach.

Frankly, I prefer the Biarritz at Black Creek to Yale's.  I find the squared back edge of such holes superior in playability and appearance as opposed to the undersized rear tongue at Yale.

16 at Streamsong Red is a bit over the top (water, bunkers in front, bushes right, chipping run off left), but it is a cool hole. I particularly like the twist that it plays at a slight angle.

I really liked #12 at Tamarack CC in Greenwich, CT.  The greenside left bunker is one of the deepest I have ever seen.

Are there more than 12 in the United States?

To me, that's like saying "48 of the best states in the United States of America." Not many left over.

Also, is there a bad Biarritz anywhere? Doesn't seem like the most demanding template to replicate.

1. Find a flat football field;
2. Mow it short;
3. Dig a trench in the middle;
4. Use that dirt to fatten up the donk.
