For anybody that’s hedging on an invite to Garden City GC because of the blazer requirement and all male status I’m happy to fill in if it helps. I think I’ll be able to handle any judgement that comes my way as a result. ;)

Tim, only thing that would make it better would be to have Pat Mucci show you around! I’m currently boozing in a parking lot at Jones beach waiting for Jimmy Buffet and I’d gladly put on a the blazer and join you.

Kyle, I fix every ball mark and gladly put sand in unfilled divots made by others. The older I get the more I look for good karma. I have no issue with how people dress. I grew up on a muni with a cast of characters. I’ve been a private club member at a second tier type club now for 31 years. Relaxed atmosphere with everyone looking to have fun.The only thing that sets me off is some inconsiderate asshole playing music I can hear 2 fairways over. How someone dresses has no effect on me . I get golf is trying to attract new people to the game. Blaring music means to me you don’t give a F about anyone else. I also will gladly wear whatever is required whereever I get invited. It’s just being respectful.

While I’m on a roll I also think applauding Pine Valley for finally admitting a female member is as dumb as applauding Augusta for having Lee Elder hitting hit an opening tee shot. Little too late for both don’t you think? Mind boggling to me that anyone thought either of the gestures was heart felt. Should have happened long ago. But I respect their right to do as they choose.

I am a republican married to a 100% Italian who never saw an in-law stick his had up someone’s skirt. I’ll laugh at that when I’m heading home over the Cuomo bridge tomorrow. Karma…..

Rob,

Excellent post and agreed on most counts, especially the part of imposing your music on everyone else. To me that's far more inconsiderate and egregious than wearing gym shorts on property or a hat indoors.

The one issue where I vary is, even thou the Pine Valley and ANGC changes were token in nature...while they may be so now, hopefully down the road those simple acts will lead to actual and meaningful changes in a multitude of ways.  So am I glad to see it.

Rob-I can’t think of a more fun spot than Jones Beach to see Jimmy Buffet. Whether it’s going to the beach, the concert series or parking for major tournaments held at Bethpage it’s one of the great people watching places I can think of. Enjoy!!!

The last time I was at Jones Beach, Jimmy Buffet was in first grade. It would be a special treat to go there. We had to take the Brooklyn ferry to get there from Staten Island.

Since this is off the rails completely and 8 pages deep, a Pirate at 40 or whatever is his best song and it’s not debatable.
His version of Uncle Johns band 2nd.
Not a massive fan but would like to see him live but if the ticket wasn’t given to me I’d set my limit at $40 out my own pocket.
Also, happy as well to put pants on and take the invite for some of you white knights out there who won’t play Garden City or others due to the fairer but equal gender being banned.

Kalen, I agree it’s moving in the right direction.

Tim, it was great fun only problem was a storm came out of nowhere and we left the rain gear in the car. Not much of the crowd left and it was a great show. The tailing gating wasn’t as crowded as the past I’m sure due to COVID but the people watching was still fun.
