Complaining about Rees Jones bunkers 20 years ago? Hell, that takes us back to the days of Tommy Naccarato.


Maybe Tommy can make a guest appearance!


Tommy's critique of Rees has not stood the test of time. Rees has as good a body of work as any living architect in the world.

This thread is a good example of why aesthetically pleasing golf courses appeal more to most golfers.  It shows why C&C, Doak, Hanse,...,spend so much time and effort making their golf courses visually stunning.  They go well beyond form and function.  You could argue the bunkers at Torey Pines were "safe havens" compared to the unpredictable rough, but the bunkers did what Rees designed them to do (whether we like how they looked or not).  Same with the pond on 18.  You think Louis lays up without it?
