Happy Father’s Day and US Open Sunday
« on: June 20, 2021, 08:02:17 AM »
When my kids were young, my Father’s Day present was being left alone to watch the final around in peace. Now that they are out of the house, there is a bit less special feeling about watching, but it is still the day of golf on TV to which I look forward the most.

Happy Father’s Day.

When my kids were still home we would all play nine holes after church, have lunch at the club, and go home to watch the Open. I miss them. They live far away from my wife and me.

Happy Father’s Day to all!!!! With a number of U.S. Open threads on the first page does anyone recall when the USGA first used an offsite parking location and shuttle to get spectators to the tournament? I remember going in 1988 to TCC and 1989 to Oak Hill and don’t recall any shuttles. Thanks.

Tim,

I don’t know when they started using offsite parking and shuttles, but I’m surprised they did NOT use them as recently as ‘88-89.  I definitely had to park offsite at Pebble in ‘82.  Heck, I went to the Women’s Open in 1985 at Baltusrol and we had to park along an unopened stretch of newly-built freeway and ride school buses.  And that for far fewer spectators.

Was Mackenzie Hughes' father a golfer?  Architecturally rooting (routing?) for him.

Thanks for the wishes. I'm a little late to wish others a Happy Father's Day, but I can report that I had a good Father's Day with two birdies on the way to a (GULP) 92.

Then I went home and watched the highlights of The Open on Youtube. For those of you complaining about the announcers, skip the broadcast and watch the highlights. The announcers get cut out of a lot of the action. ;D
