Big time congrats to Eric!

He's a fine player and solid young man.

Of course, I look forward to picking him as a partner this weekend to assist in the merciless thrashing of another GCA'er!  ;D

Thanks for all the kind words!

Metedeconk played very difficult and the greens weren't even as firm as normal! Nearly every tee shot requires a decision of what club to hit; stay short of a bunker/hazard or challenge it.

Somerset Hills will host the NJ Mid Am next year. I love NJ golf!

Congratulations! That’s really cool.

As an aside, I always thought it was silly that the US Amateur field doesn’t include the champions of every state or association; and that the US Mid Am field doesn’t include the mid amateur champs of every state or association.

Matt,

You bring up a very interesting point and something I've thought about. A big part of me agrees with you but the problem is I had to take off 4 days from work to qualify and play in the NJ Mid Am. That is a much bigger ask than 1 day off to try and qualify for a USGA event. If the USGA took more qualifying spots away and pushed people to play in their state events it may end up pushing guys away who don't have the time to play in all the state events. I am unable to play in my state amateur but may try to qualify for the US Amateur. If 50 more spots were exempt at the US Amateur I may not even bother trying to qualify because it becomes that much more difficult.
