30,000 spectators a day sounds like a lot. Granted, everyone is outdoors and well spread out and the event is still 50 days away.

The Olympic Club is hosting the US Women's Open next week. My guess is no more than 3,000 spectators a day will be allowed. My understanding is everyone on site will need proof of vaccination or a negative Covid test.

How do most of the fans get down to Sandwich?  Don't they typically cram into trains for events like this, like going to Twickenham for rugby matches?  Isn't that much more of a potential risk than 30,000 people on the golf course?

It will be interesting to see how spectators are handled at Wimbledon this year, June 28 thru July 11.

I used the train to go from St. Pancras to play The Princes, next Royal St. George's in 2011 on a Saturday.  Two days later I went by train to the Monday practice round.  I recall there was one connection.

I think there was a shuttle from near the station closest to Royal St. George's on Monday.  It was a short cab ride on Saturday to The Princes.

There were multiple routes to London.  I was staying near Kings Cross.

It is California, I'm almost surprised they are even allowing anyone...

Transport is becoming the big issue with fans unlikely to crowd on to trains and the roads will struggle with a full crowd. My guess is day tickets will be cancelled to get the numbers down with RSG members, R&A members, sponsors, hospitality and season ticket holders forming the bulk of the audience. A full build appears to be in progress so there should be plenty of space for fans.
