It almost looks like the run of US Walker Cup venues has forced Pine Valley into reinstating their status within the game, Chicago, Merion, National Golf Links, Los Angeles Country Club, Seminole and Cypress Point. You cannot bet against the 2029 edition now being at Pine Valley.

Pine Valley has forward tees that are perfectly fine for the girls. In fact they are too short for many of the good players

This is an aside: I know it is 10 years since Augusta first invited women to join. Does anyone know how many lady members they currently have (approximately)?

Caddied at Augusta National the year Phil won his first Masters, far more women played that course than I have ever seen play the course I caddie at here in RVA.

Makes me wonder if they are looking into hosting a USGA tournament?

Given the recent list of US Walker Cup courses, it may have played a very small, part in the decision

Although no direct connection between the NJ Attorney General investigation and the policy change is stated this may have had something to do with it:

There’s two levels here:

The clubs that don’t have women members but allow or even actively encourage female visitor / guest play.

And those that allow neither.

Ally,
At the time I was there, no female members that I was aware of. Never ever witnessed any of the female players treated with anything but respect.
I can’t speak to other clubs that don’t allow female members but I’m of the mind, their club, their rules. I’m not likely to join or play there but that’s not out of some moral objection. If it was my club, I wouldn’t care. I’m middle of the road enough to understand while others would feel that way. While I don’t agree, I don’t think it’s my place to dictate to a private club how they run their own property.

Shame on the USGA if this comes to fruition. No future Opens, Walker Cups or Amateurs should be awarded to clubs unless they are part of a package that includes Women's championships.

That is fantastic news!  :)
I haven't had the chance to get to PV yet, but being a GCA addict, it is one of my priorities that I want to study.

Well... I don't know what to say about the "Men only" rule... I have had my experiences getting irrigated out on a men's only club, which opens only for women spectators once a year. I guess following the last match two holes behind and checking out the amazing greens wasn't allowed.
Instead of being angry, I can only chuckle about this. It clearly adds to my story. Too bad men never get that experience.  ;D

PS: yes, irrigated. super turned on the green irrigation. I was soaked after walking 18 holes, but happy as one could be  ;)

Will PV create a new set of tees? There is no way my wife could play from the current set of tees.

it's already been rated for a new tee set for the ladies is the rumor.
We have a pool and a pond, the pond would be good for you.

Angela, please tell us the name of the club that “irrigated” you!  I want to make sure I never set foot there and pray I haven’t in the past.  ;)

Oh, no worries, Derryl. There is too much good golf out there to miss out on it. Club policies will change, and to be honest, we are in the middle of this change of mindset and society. I find it pretty funny, and as long as it is only water, I don't care. I now know to bring an umbrella the next time.  8) :D

I don't quite understand the no female members deal and I really don't understand the no females on the property deal. But, I fully understand that clubs should be able to choose their membership. It is what it is. But I do think that courses used for USGA, PGA, NCAA etc events should have male and female members. If the USGA wants to hold events at PV this is good news.

I want to make sure I am understanding you correctly. You are saying unless a course is willing to give up it's course for both a women's and men's version of the event, they are unable to host? These generally come at some expense to club on top of the members having to give up their course for weeks at a time.

This reminds me of that famous Tiger Woods Nike commercial when he had just turned pro.  His tag-line was "there are still golf courses that will not let me play based on the color of my skin."  The only problem was, he was wearing a Lochinvar golf shirt in the ad, which didn't then (and apparently still doesn't) allow people to play based on their gender.  The ad ran just a couple of weeks and someone must have pointed it out to Nike, because by about the third week, the logo on his shirt was blurred.
