Jon Rahm -7.  It's gonna be a bloodbath this year.

McIlroy at -14.  In spite of the fact that I don't think he will ever win this major--too much scar tissue from the back nine meltdown so many years ago.  I always bet for a preferred outcome rather than the expected one.  That's why all my March Madness brackets had WVU winning.

Watching this develop I’m wondering how many guesses you would need for an even money bet. 500 would make it interesting.

To prevent this thread from a total boredown I will send $100 to the first person guessing the exact winner and score that isn’t Jordon Spieth. Only the first guess on an unedited post will count. With 1500 members the only way I don’t lose is if Spieth wins.

In the event anyone wants to match my offer my exact guess is Spieth -11.

Finau -13
you're on for $100

I'll take another $20 (at 3-1) that Jordan misses the cut

Jeff,

As indicated in what you quoted me saying edited posts are disqualified. I will however let this stand if you agree to play misty for me next time you are on air.

I always root for the big guy Dustin Johnson, and will be pleased if he can win again, but I get the sense that he has been a bit off lately.

So I'll go with "Big Physics" at -13.  That's Bryson DeChambeau for those scoring at home.

I like the SungJae Im prediction, by the way.

So many great players with distinctive, recognizable swings.  Pro golf is pretty darn good these days.

I’ve just drawn Patrick Reed in a sweepstake which is nice. It won’t stop me rooting against him but it will temper my disappointment somewhat if he wins!

The tournament hasn't begun and I'm so sick of the Bryson talk...Look, in my opinion this guy is the WORSE thing to happen to golf in my lifetime....Already we have high school golfers "bulking up" and swinging like Happy Gilmore and thinking that is the was to success.  Get big and swing hard!  Sad....sad...sad...

"Bryson Talk" is no different than any other sport where an outsized physical presence causes news:

- William "the Refrigerator" Perry on the 1985 Chicago Bears.
- Shaquille Oneal when he first played for the Orlando Magic in the 90's
- Mark McGuire when he hit 73 dingers for the St. Louis Cardinals (asterisk...;-)

But, Bryson wins tournaments because he makes putts inside 10 feet when the pressure is on.
That's why he won the US Open. That's why he beat Lee Westwood at Bay Hill. Bryson made putts and Lee missed key putts.

But, like "The Fridge" and McGuire, the extra beef did not age well and it remains to be seen if Bryson can take that "Meat Stick" strategy and create a sustainable career without injury.

Of course everyone is entitled to their opinion but I agree with Craig Sweet.  When I watch Bryson, I think that golf was not founded by the Scots or the Dutch, but perhaps by...cave men.

The BDC talk IS DIFFERENT than the Fridge, or Shaq, or even McGuire to some extent.  No high school kid ever said "I'm going to add 150 pounds  so I can be like The Fridge"....and if you weren't born 7ft 3" tall you weren't going to be "like Shaq"......Unfortuneatly, a lot of kids took steroids to be like McGuire, and a lot will do everything they can to beef up, and speed up, like BDC.

Dechambeau  -12 8)
Nobody picked Rose? He may win in a runaway or pull a Norman and choke big-time.

Wow his swing looked so solid and consistent. Will be tough to beat as typically he isn't up/down during tournaments, very steady. Appears to have his game as solid as it has ever been. Of course we shall see. Great round.

There is currently a 1 in 75 chance I award this prize. It's not a bet. I'm nervous about JT at minus 11 or 12.
