that may be true for the Republic but you will still have to quarantine for 14 days to enter the UK.


For those coming from the US or anywhere to Scotland you are not allowed to travel more than 5 miles except for essential journeys which going on holiday is not one as far as I am aware.

an air bridge (actually called an air corridor now  ::) ) is set up between two countries as an agreement that people can travle between them with no quarantine.

Not sure if they use em in the UK, but seems they could put Ankle bracelets on visitors to ensure compliance, then remove when the 14 days are up. 

P.S.  Given current Covid numbers in the US, and the lack of even half-hearted attempts to address, hard to imagine them lifting restrictions any time this year.

Ireland heading to 6 week full lockdown. All retail closed. Only allowed to travel within 5km... not clear yet if golf courses are to close for those that live within the 5km.

The Government has decided however, that Level 5 restrictions mean that all sports facilities, golf included must close.

And the latest Covid golf news from the United Kingdom of GB&NI is ..... golf in Northern Ireland is due to close-down from this Thurs for two weeks.

Just announced that golf in Wales is permitted again from tomorrow (Sat 13th March). ‘Local’ short distance travel to play only though. No ‘travelling in’ from England permitted.
Still no play allowed in RoI and NI though.

Ireland has had golf courses closed for more weeks than any other country since the beginning of this.


We hear on April 5th what the next steps might be.

Bookings opened at 7am for the first day back after lockdown at Sherwood Forest.  Fully booked for 4-balls from 7.20-16.30 by 7.02  :o  People have missed golf in England!

This is a big problem for clubs with too many members!


Meanwhile Cavendish is fairly busy on the 29th but there are still plenty of places available. We've allocated six tee times per day for visitors and they've all been snapped up at premium green fee rates. Kerching!


Silloth doesn't open for bookings until tomorrow evening so I'm going to have my finger poised!

I reckon there’s more to it than that folks have been missing golf.
An interesting statistic would be what percentage of golfers who will be playing golf in England on Mon 29th will be folks who have played on Mondays in March for years and what percentage will be folks who due to circumstances over the last year or so now have free time on Mondays? Same for Tues, Wed, Thurs and Fri. Less so for Sat, Sun and Bank Holidays.

You can forget that if there is supposed to be an international media presence. No guarantees hotels will even be open (although initial tentative plan does have this at June).
