"Now it's all wild and you have to hit it 180 yards at least."

What's so great about that?

Wonderful story. Huge props to Paul Larsen and his team. Roll on July.

Cheers.  These are exactly the sort of mainstream media stories golf needs! I assume the 180 carries are from championship tees?

Good PR probably. Good environmentally and/or golf wise? Constant review and balanced management likely to be key. A beaver damn constructed across RStG’s iconic Suez Canal would be an interesting proposition to deal with.

Beavers are abundant in Texas, though seldom seen.  We have them in the lakes in my neighborhood and regularly chew up unprotected trees near the water.  At my home course, they damn the creek below the irrigation lake and do considerable damage to the trees that don't have wire mashing around the trunks.  I doubt that they are seen by the maintenance staff in a positive light, though Canada geese are a much bigger problem.

I enjoy checking Paul's Twitter (https://twitter.com/PaulLarsenRSG) updates now and again; very informative and always a learning experience. He definitely does not have the appearance of the type of person you'd expect to be head greenkeeper at a club like RSG.  :D
