Sharing the ratings which are very positive - https://www.geoffshackelford.com/homepage/2021/2/17/449bhufu38vdw5po2jr51robzr6ap3

Ratings aside, clearly the PGA Tour schedule is splitting into A and B tier events. Watch this space as the relationship gets closer with the European Tour.  No sponsor wants to spend $10+ and have a second rate field.

I remember that "back in the day" there was less golf on television.  Additionally, celebrities were more mysterious and admired due to the lack of internet, talk TV etc.  The combination made tournaments like the Crosby, particularly given the venue and the time of year, almost irresistible.  Soon it seemed almost every tourney had a sponsor; Bob Hope, Dean Martin, Andy Williams, Jackie Gleason, Glen Campbell, Sammy Davis etc.  Only the Crosby had multiple courses and multiple days of celebrity play but it was only on for a few hours on the weekend.  Changes in all the factors above have made the format less attractive.  People who want to see celebs have a lot of outlets.  People who want to see golf don't need to see a B list comedian hit shanks.

Sean agree that the "PGA Tour" has morphed into something else from 20-30 years ago.

What hasn't changed in the last 20-30 years? Why are you acting like this is isolated?

No disrespect intended, but you guys sound very stuck in the past.

When it comes to golf I am essentially in the past. I often say the game has passed me by. Happens to every generation I spose. So much about golf these days doesn't in the least interest me.
