Rachel Ray - when you fat one on a par 5 layup, but you're still in the hole...."a little fat, but she'll do"

I love the Saddam Hussein - Bunker to Bunker

Bacon Ball - when your partner hit's one way off the course - "Lassie couldn't find that one if it was covered in bacon".  Used to quickly inform your playing partner you have no interest in looking for that ball.

There are many a few that are not apropos anymore....

A "Sophia Loren"...

...a very long putt that holds a great line for the longest time, but just misses going in.  It's a "Sophia Loren" because "it looked good for a very long time."

TS

I like this one a bunch, but I am sure it is generational.  We have called that same putt a “Christy Brinkley”.  I am confident folks younger than me have a different name.

One of my other favorites for a pop fly off the tee box is “the caddy” - it’s just a wee bit high.  Plays much better when it is the caddy who make the call.

A "Travolta putt" as it has a lot of movement on the dance floor. Probably not in use as it was well over 40 years since he was known for his dancing.

"Jimmy Hoffa bump" a small singular hump on the green somewhere to denote the final resting place of the renowned union boss.

Heard, but I haven't used and probably changes over the years.
AOC - shot WAY left.
Cruzer - shot way right.

An awful one that was when two caddies were down FW fore-caddying and the first player cold blocked his tee shot and you knew when it left the club face that it was headed deep into the woods right.

Caddies were eyeing it and one of the players said,

“Yup, it’s gone.”
“How do you know?”
“Caddy gave you the “Zeig Heil”.

When of course the caddy merely motioned with a raised arm over his head and pointed to the woods.

Ouch.... ;D

When someone blows a drive well past their fellow competitors, that's a "Linda Ronstadt"

Anyone know why?

We used to use it in baseball, too....

Never really liked that one, because it's really a Roy Orbison

Probably the most oft used one in the U.K. is the “Sally Gunnell”,  named after an Olympic middle distance runner better known for her athletic prowess than her good looks.

It is used to describe a topped driver or fairway wood.

Not pretty, but a good runner...

A few others;

Princess Diana - shouldn’t have taken a driver.

Son-in-Law - not what you really wanted but it’ll do.

Sister-in-Law - you’re up there but you know you shouldn’t be.

OJ Simpson - somehow got away with it.

Kate Winslet - a bit fat but otherwise perfect.

Yasser Arafat - ugly and in the sand

Dead sheep - “Still you”

My favorite, though I've never actually seen it happen before, is "taking him to Kerby" in match play.  Used with two-down auto presses and beating the guy 9-7-5-3-1 on one nine.

The zip code for 97531?  Kerby, OR.

Tiger would have come close to the full Kerby against Ames in 2006.

Princess Grace, the counterpart of Princess Di: Should've taken a driver.
3 shots in a bunker: a StoogieAgricultural: shot with a big divot

I've heard a sharp pull hook described as a "Thurman Munson"; in other words, a dead Yank.
Sorry.

John-No offense taken but you won’t hear that one much in and around metro NY. I don’t even think you would hear a Met’s fan use it out of reverence for Munson.
Hi Tim,
Yes, it's awful.  Someone told me that one twenty or so years ago.  I apologized in advance for a reason.

After hitting one that starts left and just keeps going (for a righty of course).  One of my buddies used to always say "I must have used one of those German balls!"        A Hööken F**ker

What the Fuck?

When your shaft breaks and the driver head flies 80 yards and you have no idea where the ball went!!
Live Jupiter, Fl, was  4 handicap, played top 100 US, top 75 World. Great memories, no longer play, 4 back surgeries. I don't miss a lot of things about golf, life is simpler with out it. I miss my 60 degree wedge shots, don't miss nasty weather, icing, back spasms. Last course I played was Augusta

Two from Louisiana:

An Edwin is a ball hit so close to the hole that its a “kickback”. Named after our notoriously colorful and corrupt former governor Edwin Edwards.

A “Katrina” is a ball found half submerged in the water.
