1. If I begin and end a round with the same ball I know I'm hitting it pretty well since I didn't lose it.

2. When #1 above does not occur, its amazing the places you find brand new Pro V 1's to reload the bag with......hitting those $5 balls in those places, those folks should be using Pinnacles or RockFlights @ $24/dozen.

3. I enjoy walking with a hand trolley, carrying the bag is a bit of work.

4. 3.5 hours walking is a nice pace.

Any time I am playing a new course.

Any time I finish with more balls than I started.

Any time I am playing a course with more holes without houses on them than with houses on them.

Any time I golf in 3 hours or less.

I’m amazed at the number people on GCA who complete their rounds in less than 3.5 hours. This is not what happens in any GCA Event I’ve ever played; and I’ve played in quite a few! Perhaps the chance to talk about architecture with like minded individuals plays a part but from my experience GCAers are plodding bunch.

When I read the current thread about where golf wastes money I don’t see many happy golfers. A good day for me starts with a great parking spot.

Do you seek out a pull-thru spot?

I’m a classic treeless end spot kind of guy. I can get territorial over “my” spot. There is a parking space so sweet at Vic that whoever is first in my group at the club snags it up. I have to admit that I didn’t even discover it on my own. Because of a quirk in the entry road instead of a rectangle it’s a dent preventing polygram that is hardy discernible with the naked eye. That spot is the first step to a great day and all your opponents know it.

Depends upon age.

Young – always walk; practice a lot; work constantly to improve; experiment with equipment; score matters; play alone if your group is not available; play the best courses that you can afford; travel to play top courses; drink beer afterwards.

Old – walk if you can, otherwise ride; accept decline in your game; play only with friends that you enjoy; price to play doesn’t matter; don’t waste money on new equipment;  score does not matter; course choice does not matter;  drink beer afterwards.

What do you do to be a happy x golfer? 13 years since I was last able to play, Tiger is facing that prospect right now after his 5th back surgery. Whose he kidding? Only himself. He should just retire or else face the fact that he is going to turn himself into a cripple.
Live Jupiter, Fl, was  4 handicap, played top 100 US, top 75 World. Great memories, no longer play, 4 back surgeries. I don't miss a lot of things about golf, life is simpler with out it. I miss my 60 degree wedge shots, don't miss nasty weather, icing, back spasms. Last course I played was Augusta

I just enjoy any chance to get out.  Life is busy!!

I'm perfectly fine walking and playing alone.

I especially enjoy a round with great friends where the laughs and stories are remembered more than the scores/shots.

I always love playing a round of golf with a stranger that leads to a great conversation about golf and golf architecture...and hopefully a beer after the round!!

**FYI** I cannot stand 5 hour rounds

You consistent unhappiness with Tiger makes me a happy golfer. So happy that I'm going to ask what we all want to know. What do you think of the new doc about Tiger on HBO?

Would love to have you out to my club one day. Your head would spin at how fast our groups play. It's ... crazy. 3 walkers and one guy in a cart = 3:17 minutes. Our average time with 16 to 25 guys going off in foursomes and fivesomes with an even mix of walkers and riders is probably right around 3:30. I've never been in a group that finished in over 3:50 and many times, when first off, have finished in 2:55 to 3:10.

I’m closer to qualifying for the handicapped spot.
