Yeah but Ballybunion still wins the title of best / highest ranked course with an unusual stretch (of 5 consecutive non par’4s).

Indeed, much as I love Painswick, its certainly a quirky course and so this sort of thing is to be expected. Ballybunion being a highly regarded classic links, its certainly not what one would initially expect.

Cheers,

James

ps Just remembered North Berwick. 4 in a row has been beaten, but it has a run of:
8th, par 5
9th, par 5
10th, par 3
11th, par 5
2023 Highlights: Hollinwell, Brora, Parkstone, Cavendish, Hallamshire, Sandmoor, Moortown, Elie, Crail, St Andrews (Himalayas & Eden), Chantilly, M, Hardelot Les Pins

Town & Country in Minneapolis has a back nine with only two par 4s - the last being the 13th - and includes three consecutive par 5s:

4-3-5-4-3-5-5-5-3

What an unusual nine. Never seen nine holes with four par fives. Fascinatin. Do you know the story behind that setup?

A lot of it has to do with the tight and quirky property. The course is on about 90 acres, and is bisected by an old ravine and sits on a bluff over the Mississippi.

What's more interesting is that 6 out of the last 7 holes are essentially half par holes (great for match play!!)...
12 is a reachable par-5
13 is a 270 yard par-4
14 is a 240 yard par-3
15, 16, 17 are all reachable par-5s

Ironically (to the title of the thread) you play six par-4s in a row from holes 5 through 10. And that's on a course that only has 8 par-4's total.

A fun course to check out if folks are visiting the Twin Cities.
