So Susan Lyon is wrong?

Tony's better half otherwise known as his putting coach. No, she doesn't play golf  ;)

A little confusion but the correct address is hstjet@googlemail.com

I can collect the funds sent to the other one but it means being nice and then grovelling to she who must be obeyed, and as you can imagine I don't wish to be in that situation to often..

Thanks to the following who have send the £120.  If you think you have and I've missed it please IM me.

Michael and Paul Graham
Mike Whitaker
Enno Gerdes
Mike Malone
Jack Branyan
Martin and Nancy Bonnar
Niall Carlton

Please keep the funds coming. £120pp

NB there's a no of people who've not been heard of for some time and whose intensions aren't clear. I'm sure you've all organised things at one time or another and therefore you'll know that all the organiser really wants to hear is "yes" or "no". Radio silence is confusing.

As Duncan says its shaping up well and not long now.

Re: BUDA 2021. CAVENDISH AND REDDISH VALE - THE TEAMS!!
« Reply #154 on: August 12, 2021, 03:03:53 AM »
As of this morning we have 26 confirmed attendees and a couple of possible maybes.

Clearly the reduced number of travelers from the States throws the traditional trans-Atlantic contest out of kilter somewhat, but a detailed analysis of the confirmed attendees reveals a 13-13 split between those I suspect of hailing from England and those definitely from "Elsewhere".

Can an assorted rabble of Scots and Yanks take on the might of the English?  We shall see.

The teams are;

England

Robin Hiseman
Mark Pearce
James Boon
Giles Payne
Conrad Gamble
Adam Uttley
James Reader
Nick Norton
Michael Graham
Paul Graham
Duncan Cheslett
Jayne Cheslett
Tony Muldoon*      Yes, I know he's Irish but he sounds English and I've got to balance the numbers somehow!

Elsewhere

Mike Whitaker
Enno Gerdes
Sean Arble
Jack Branyan
Jack Weiner
Mike Malone
Ward Peyronnin
Bill Rogers
Jerry Kluger
Niall Carlton
Ken Moodie
Marty Bonnar

Nancy Bonnar

The format will be as follows;

Sunday 5th (Cavendish)               -  36 holes 4-ball Better Ball matchplay with light lunch.
Sunday 5th Evening (Cavendish)   -  Dinner
Monday 6th (Reddish Vale)           - 36 holes Foursomes or Greensomes matchplay (TBC) with light lunch.
Tuesday 7th (Cavendish)              -  18 holes Individual matchplay with light lunch.

In addition there is the option of playing Cavendish on Saturday afternoon on the original MacKenzie routing which was changed shortly after the course was opened.

I am now looking for volunteers/suggestions for team captains.

Nice assumptive close. But I think if you're on a team it's fair enough to refer to it as 'my team'.

Do we really need Captains? What a delightfully anachronistic concept! Can’t we just have co-operative socialist communist committees of management?  ;D
And as for the Graham brothers being, ehm, ‘English’. I think they might have something to say about that.
BTW, La Nance is currently probably playing the golf of her life, so look out!
PS me, not so much!!!

My sincere apologies to Michael and Paul if I have made an incorrect assumption regarding their heritage. They are friends I have yet to meet, although I very much look forward to rectifying this.

Maybe the England team needs instead to enroll a couple of non-indigenous but long standing residents as honorary Englishmen for the purposes of this event.

Messrs Arble and Moodie would be obvious candidates to make such a sacrifice...  ;)

I’m sure I’ve got you down for a buggy in the afternoon at both Cavendish and Reddish Vale.

Neither is a long course. You’ll be fine.

Foursomes at Reddish Vale will lighten the load and if we swap holes after lunch everyone will play every tee shot.

Are we playing foursomes both rounds at RV?  Does that mean we have to keep the same pairings?
In June I will be riding the first three stages of this year's Tour de France route for charity.  630km (394 miles) in three days, with 7800m (25,600 feet) of climbing for the William Wates Memorial Trust (https://rideleloop.org/the-charity/) which supports underprivileged young people.

I volunteer to captain the "Elsewhere" team, hereafter known as the Elsewhere Saints, in absentia.  Singles go out alphabetically by last name.  Pairs alphabetically by first name.  Then draw numbers from a hat.   Then do it again.

You're welcome.
