I did a search and not much came up, anyone know anything about these two?

Wow, he is expanding into Virginia. Water's Edge is a good fit for him. I played it about 15 years ago. The course is an ok Buddy Loving design that creeps in an out of the "water's edge." I understand that Rich Mandel did some work on the course a few years ago. I walked and played the course with my wife. Because of the ground upon which it is situated it would have a difficult time being fast and firm. Although after only one play I could be very wrong. I enjoyed the course and it is a very nice club. It should work well for McConnell although it is far afield from his other clubs.

Thanks Tommy - his first foray into VA and per the article he’s been a homeowner for decades so it might be a passion-play. Look forward to checking it out, though living three hours away I’ve never heard of the courses until now, only the nearby State Park.

The Westlake is a solid semi-private sub-division golf course designed by Russell Breeden.  However, the homes are not lining every hole and are set back.  Course has nice rolling terrain.  I enjoyed the course enough that I sought out other Breeden courses.

Mac, are you a member at a McConnell course? I was a member before and after he bought Musgrove Mill. I thought he did well for all the courses he owned, although I am not sure that members at the Cardinal would agree.

Tommy I am - good is how I would rate it, literally no better or worse in any aspect of the golf or club experience.
