Washington Golf

A friend who is a member of Washington Golf in Arlington, Virginia told me that they are shut down for a major renovation. It is/was a cool very old Ross course jammed into a small parcel. There are/were a couple quite awkward holes that could use improvement.


Any info on the renovation?

Our former intern/shaper Mike McCartin's parents were members there, so Mike roped us into doing the job (with him helping out).  Eric Iverson is going to do the work, and they are lucky to have him!

On the RGD website, it lists WG&CC under Major Redesign (vs. Restoration). What does that mean... a change in routing? New holes? Just curious. I've played it once (last summer) and thought it was really cool course on a tight property. Looking forward to seeing it post-work.

The work has been ongoing since July. 


It's a big project on a small site.  All the rain on the East Coast the past month has not made it easy to stay on schedule.

Has anyone played it since it re-opened? It debuted at Number 7 in the state on Top100 Golf Courses but I am not sure how they would have enough reviews yet for that placement.
