My friend in Omaha told me Scott Hoffman is the designer, and Bill Kubly is building it.  My friend is considering membership, so I imagine he might have additional info.

The previously mentioned Sterling Grove in Surprise, AZ will now open in April.

whoops. wonder what happened there to cause a three month delay?

I understand the course will open to members only later in January to mid February. Residents and public play will start in mid March.   Stay tuned for further developments. Perhaps we can plan a GCA event there.

I will be interested in thoughts from anyone who plays here. It is only about 5 miles from where my parents live.


While I think there are some decent spots on the west side of Phoenix, there's nothing that really knocks my socks off.

Yeah me too Jeff, my folks are in Sun City West and to get my dad to play anything that isn't in their community or part of the Coyote Card will be an act of God.

That Rod Whitman course in British Columbia should be open in 2021. While it's not "new," it's been closed for quite a long time. It's too good to let go by the wayside

I haven't been way out that way in a long time. Do they have many homes built already? Or are the members just folks who have bought land in anticipation of a home coming down the line?

Speaking of Omaha and new courses... whatever happened to that proposed course near the airport (between it and downtown on the river)? Think it was around 2013

I think the flooding along the river a year or two later convinced my friends that it wasn't a practical place to build a course.

The community is planned for 2200 houses. Less than 100 are occupied now, Approximately 50 golf memberships have been sold. Non-residents can buy a callable membership. The entry fee recently rose from 6K to 10K .

The new Sterling Grove Golf and Country Club in Surprise, Arizona, will open its  Nicklaus-designed 18-hole golf course to limited public preview play starting Feb. 11.
Public green fees will be $89, with tee times accepted 30 days in advance. The clubhouse and on-course amenities are still under construction, and a food truck will be on site until those open.
Troon said in a media release announcing the opening that this is the first course to open to public play in Arizona since 2016.

This course is NOT a Jack Nicklaus design. He is retired from design.  It is a Nicklaus Design course:

I have not heard of Lake Charles Muni-LA (Blume) and would be surprised any new course would be built in Lake Charles in the near future since most are still recovering from hurricanes last year. It also seems Lake Charles has too many courses already: 2 Casino Courses, 1 Private, 1 Semi-Private and 1 Muni.

Bobby Weed is building a new course in Jacksonville. Not sure it will open in 2021.
