Bandon Preserve is the only new in vogue Par 3 courses I have played. I am not sure I have had more pure fun on a course. But it was not designed to be on the same scope and scale as a full course. Has anyone built a short course that is all about playing approach shots similar to ones on a full length course? Perhaps 120 yards in. No using tees--just drop the ball on the ground. Plus enough width to pick various and variable starting points. I am thinking about a number of the medium/short holes at Elie or Brora or Pacific Dunes or Kilspindie. Just pure use the ground (or not) challenging.
