The year The Confidential Guide was published, a bunch of guys in the golf business in the UK had an informal competition to see who could rack up the most "Doak points" in a calendar year.  (You didn't get additional credit for playing a course a second time.)


He didn't mention it in his book, but Luke Reese was the winner of that competition.
