Guys,
I offered a couple of these last year and was happy to meet a couple GCA'ers in the process.  I do quite a few charity auctions and generally play with my dad and brother on golf trips when I'm home during the summer. I don't think my dad can play and wanted to offer the spot here. [Disclaimer: I may not be able to fly back to USA due to coronavirus, or the club may not be able to host guests due to coronavirus.]

1. I already donated to charity for this and don't believe in charging anyone when I invite them.

2. The spot will be given totally at random, not first come first served or whoever has the most posts, I don't even care if you have taken a shot at me on the DG. All can try. ;)

3. I would only like those who HAVEN'T gotten a chance to play Oakmont before. It is special place and like to spread the wealth.

4. All I ask is pay your caddie fee, bring a good attitude, and continue paying it forward when able as I know many do.

Details
Send me a PM with your interest.  The date is not set yet, but will be after labor day, windows will probably be Sept 8-11 or 15-18 mid-week preliminarily. If you know you aren't going to be around during that window please don't respond. Next time.

On July 3rd I will randomly ask my mom to pick a number between 1-xx.  Then one more number as a backup.
Your number will be the order in which you PM me. So if you are first then you get 1, second 2 and so forth. I'll PM the winner and the backup.

My mom's birthday is July 3rd so please PM me by July 2nd.

I hope it works out as I have really enjoyed meeting whoever I have played with in the past.
God Bless

EDIT: Congrats to David Ober (winner) and Josh Bills (backup)

If you are lucky to join Jeff at Oakmont, enjoy your day.  It is special.  Very.

Here is how my eyes and camera saw the course back a handful of years ago:

Let me encourage you to reach out on Jeff's incredibly generous offer, as well.   Oakmont is unreal and maybe the best combination of club and course in America.

I also don’t qualify as I have played it a few times but I think it’s in that rarified air of a course to travel hundreds of miles to play even if you play no other in the area.

Dear all,

Thank you for the messages and surprised so many on here haven't had the chance to play Oakmont. Have had a huge response with 51 private messages, 5 emails, and even someone from golfwrx website who said he heard about it and wanted in. I want to be as fair as possible, so although I do know numerous people who have contacted me it will still be a random selection.

Good opportunity to create some fellowship with those we don't know. We all are living in the world with stresses in our daily lives and a DG with many strangers can be impersonal, but connecting in person creates these lifelong bonds and hope it works out.

Got one more day to contact me and then I'll contact the winner and the backup.

God bless,
Jeff

Golfers...... in sticking to the plan I just called my mom and wished her a happy b day ahead of the flowers Chappers recommended sending her at 74 years young. ;D I explained I needed her random selections and she was excited to spread some joy. The numbers were 17 and 13. Both of which were the birthdays of my grandmother and grandfather, as we were all very close to them.

So who the heck are #17 (winner) and #13 (backup)?  David Ober is #17 and Josh Bills is #13! Congrats gentlemen, I'll PM you details. I haven't disclosed who has won in the past, but there are 5-6 of you out there who I have had a great time with the last few years. I have no doubt, if we are able (God willing), Oakmont will be equally enjoyable.  I appreciate almost 60 people contacting me and apologies for those who maybe missed out this time, but it was nice reading your messages and getting to know you a little bit. Next time.

Will be nice to share some fellowship and community, which I think is what we all enjoy when able. The point/counterpoint of our discourse here isn't life and death so stay safe and be kind.

Jeff,

Thank you for the very generous offer and I'm honored to serve as backup.  My birthday is on the 17th and one of my brothers is named Jeff.  Sometimes the stars just align.

I cancelled my Scotland trip this year due to COVID, and should have been leaving a week from tomorrow.  Here's hoping 2021 allows me to even make that trip.  I was scheduled to enjoy Scotland with my father and two brothers, and included a tee time I was lucky enough to secure on The Old Course via ballot, North Berwick and many other amazing places.  My father is 74 and he is now not sure he is going to attempt it next year out of concern, and sadly has never been to Scotland.  He grew up hitch hiking to caddy at the local club and golfing since he was just a young boy.  While we have been fortunate to play some wonderful courses over the years as a foursome, I was really excited for this trip, for all of us.

Jeff, I hope you can make it back to Oakmont this year and play with David (or me, if that's how it plays out), and that the golf world can return to providing experiences and relationships only found in this great game.

Jeff,

David is a fine player and a gentleman. You will enjoy your time playing with him.

David,

Congrats! I'd love to see a post here after you have played to tell us of your experience.

Woohoo!!!

Hope we can make it happen, Jeff. I know there are a lot of "variables" right now, but let me know and I'm there "with bells on," as they say. :-)

Thanks so much for the opportunity!

What is the course rating of the tees we will play? Whatever it is, I will usually shoot +/- 3 or 4 of that number, condition-dependent (extreme wind/cold, etc.) of course.

I have, obviously, heard of the legendary green speeds at Oakmont. Have played tournaments at 13 - 14.25, so I'm no stranger to fast greens, but all greens are different. Are Oakmont's greens bent/poa annua?

I do hit it short (235 to 255 depending on fairway firmness), but my game from 80 to 160 is pretty solid, usually, as is my greenside game and (generally) my putting.

Sure hope we can make this happen!!

Wonderful offer Jeff, hope the lads who won are able to get there. Our group had a wonderful day at Oakmont, members were fantastic to us, had a really nice afternoon post golf sitting on the side balcony drinking "cocktails" and swapping stories.

Was dark and had started to rain when we left the club to drive back into Pittsburgh. We rushed out, threw all the gear in the back of our cars and to show everyone how nice we were, we managed to "steal" one of the members (whose name I can't recall) clubs and bag. Didn't realise until we got back to our rental on the Southside.

All worked out in the end, we enjoyed the city and even managed to catch a Steelers game.
