Best lunch at a golf club... depends, do you want to get out fast and play again?

I believe ANGC has a fantastic lunch menu and setting. And you know dinner will be superb in the evening, so it is just the right lunch.

Pat, your WBYC has a great fish lunch. I enjoyed it very much overlooking the lake.

I've had some great lunches but on a hot summer day in Virginia I'm just fine with a hot dog and a Miller Lite at the turn.

Grand Saint Emilionnais should get a mention. Amazingly well executed considering the small kitchen facility. And Of course the wine selection is outstanding.

Most of the top French clubs have brilliant food.

Mike Keiser had lunch at Morfontaine last year and told me it was the best lunch he's had at a golf course.

In a snowstorm in CT too...
I'm so down with that... to add the "gourmet" best element to it, I say that the best of such hot dogs (especially the Coney Island-casing type) are often boiled first, then put on the griddle or the roller for a couple minutes; while you collect your brew, and bag of Fritos, they are then presented snappy and delicious with a pickle.

***I love winning the 9th hole and thus 10th hole honor, so I can collect my order, drop into the cart, hit first, then sit back in cart while they dawdle and hit, while I savor the red hot in relative un-rushed peace.***

(Another note...someone mentioned a piper at sunset...?  Am I the only one who really doesn't like that?  To start with, it seems faux to me in any culture (like America?) where the pipes are not regularly heard. But also too, that droning bleat grates on me within a minute and its best appreciated by my ears at a distance of 300 or 400 yards.  At a Royal Bank of Scotland of outing, I know I saw Nicklaus wincing when the guy was 40 feet away on the other side of the room.

Not to hijack this thread but many years ago I had the funeral of a Scot. He was born and bred in Scotland. His widow wanted Amazing Grace played on the pipes. I had him practice in the church. It was unbearable. I had him play it in the parking lot with the door open. Much better.

There have been some great golf lunches mentioned in this thread.  The best lunches I have enjoyed in terms of quality have all been in France with the absolute best being at Golf de Joyenval (thank you Steve O.)  To this day I can still describe the taste of the veal piccata.

NGLA's big lunch is special too along with the proper links clubs in the UK that have been mentioned.  The don't think I've seen Swinley Forest mentioned.  The fried fish starter there is quite good.

A negative with making even a day trip to visit another course in the U.K. at this Covid moment isn’t not being able to access the best food it’s being able to access any damn food at all!

Obviously not a formal lunch but the halfway house on the Streaming red course has some great bbq options.

There are so many good and inexpensive places in Upper Darby, PA, to have lunch before or after a round at Cobb’s Creek.

You might want to get out of your comfort zone and try any of them.

NGLA and Pine Valley are famous for their lunches, but not sure if they can match Glen Oaks, Fresh Meadow, Old Oaks, Deepdale, Atlantic, the Bridge, and Friars Head.  These clubs pride themselves for serving food that can complete with top Michelin rated restaurants.

I did! Mention Swinley, and the optional fourth fish course...
For proper British puddings, both HCEG and Swinley remain very hard to beat, with Rye's treacle sponge also perhaps making the podium. And keeping the swing nicely grounded in the afternoon.

In the UK, Denham's lunch has to get a mention. Traditional golf lunching at its finest - Jackets and ties, long tables and a taxidermy audience.

I can tell you one that my Dad thinks is NOT and that is at Pasatiempo.

Well when we went for the first time a couple years ago we had the food at the turn. It was good, but a VERY funny story.

We get to 9 tee and see an advert for the grill food at the turn and says 4.99 for mushrooms, avocado, etc. toppings for hot dogs. I say hey hot dogs are 5 bucks loaded who wants one? We order 3 and 3 gatorades. Get off the green and go in where my dad pulls out a 20 and a 5 to pay saying he has this. The lady says $52. My dad looked puzzled and says $52? She says yes and he pulls out 2 more 20's. He gets 10 back so for 55 bucks we had 3 loaded hot dogs and 3 gatorades!

I look at the menu and it says hot dogs 8 bucks so the 4.99 was just for the EXTRA toppings! 13 dollar hot dogs! I have to say they were good.

We fondly remember this to tease my dad as he was so pissed he couldn't enjoy the rest of the round, despite me picking up the green fees.
