Thanks for the photos from the ground. All I've seen previously were drone shots, which look incredible. Outside of the ocean views, the ground level photos don't look especially compelling. This isn't all that surprising as sand bunkers do help define things more and provide some drama. Obviously, the test is really in how the course plays, and it's hard to imagine C&C not delivering an excellent experience. I'm sure it is a worthy addition to the resort. One great feature of Bandon is in the variety of the courses and how different people can have different favorites, and seems like the newest will add to the competition.
I've only visited Bandon once (for the opening of Old Mac). While I enjoyed the golf, I did not get smitten like I have with pretty much everywhere I've been in the UK. For me, the connection with the town is part of the charm, and Bandon really just felt like a resort (a great resort, but still a resort). Having read Jeff Warne's post, maybe I need to come in winter and stay in town.
Like Lou, I'm sure I'll be back to Bandon one of these days, but fortunately they are doing pretty well without me.
LHR to PDX seems a very hard sell, though. There's too much compelling golf that is closer and cheaper.
