Did Any of You Ever Read "The Majors of Golf" magazine?

It was a 64-72 page periodical that ran (at least) from 1992 to 2007, ... each of the four annual issues were devoted entirely to the upcoming four majors and would be released some 6 weeks before each particular event of that year's four.



Though I made (and re-discovered) a vast collection of them, I had forgotten how fine these were for focus on the history/lineage of the clubs, the courses and the tournament itself. Great record... and sometimes now (with so much renovation work done on many of these tracks in the last 25 years, an fine measure of the changes).  Also its neat to regard the older advertisements, swing tips and equipment promos of a rapidly-passed era.  One last thing I'm impressed with; the 4 or 5 features in any one issue were all created by one author.


I'm not aware of whether this periodical made it past 2008...


1. Do any of you remember it?
2. Do you know how long it was published beyond 08 if at all?
3. Are there any majors' courses you would like the issue for? (I likely have a second copy to gift you).

Remember them? I actually sold advertising for them as an independent rep in the mid-90's before moving to SF. They also published an issue for either the Ryder Cup or President's Cup as well as Great Golf Resorts of the World. Don't know how their business has evolved over the years, but I loved this magazine back in the day and always looked forward to picking up a copy before each major.


I recall the owner's son, Abe Summers, was on GCA.com for awhile.

Yes, I now recall those Ryder/Prez Cup and GGR fo the World...they may have also done some for the Solheim Cup...


Do you know how long the series went for (past 2008)?

I think I wrote some stuff for them one year in the early 2000's.  Hard to remember all the stuff I have written!
