Green modifications invite
« on: March 20, 2021, 02:05:58 PM »
I am starting on Monday the modification of two old Gordon greens that simply have too much slope - the one has (7-8% slope on 70% of the surface and roughly 5% on the few areas they try to pin).   It is a last resort for me but needs to be done.  This is not a pure restoration project so it makes even more sense to address it.  If anyone is interested in seeing the process live, feel free to email me and I will see if we can arrange a time for a small group to come out and see how things are being done (course is just outside Philadelphia and I can give details on the email).  You might find it very educational to see all that is involved in the process.
I will take photos throughout and might post something later when complete (if I ever learn how to post photos here again)  :D

I found that Old York Road was a Gordon with too much undulation in the greens. I grew up at Deerfield ( Louviers then) but don’t recall excessive undulations.

Mike,
Some of Gordon's greens (as well as those of other classic architects) have this issue.  I sure wouldn't single him out.
