Gov. Tom Wolf announced Monday golf courses would be among the recreation facilities permitted to welcome players under strict guidelines, but Scranton Municipal Golf Course, which has played host to golfers since June 1960, will not open for the season, course superintendent Ed Cimoch confirmed Monday.
“It’s over. We’re done,” Cimoch said as he cleared his office of five decades of memories. “We would have opened this year before the coronavirus hit. We were guaranteeing everybody this year. There would be one last year, and we would know in the middle of the year if we were going to come back.”

I heard this yesterday and was really saddened.   I played there hundreds of times growing up and many times with my dad, friends, and brothers.   I played matches in high school against Eddie Cimoch, mentioned in the story, and his family had been with the course nearly since inception.

It did make me glad that I ventured up there last season for what I know now was to be my final play.   Here was my review.
