Vandegrift GC, Delaware

I searched GCA with no tangible results.  Anyone have info on this place?  Supposedly opened in ‘38. I know it’s closed, but there’s a guy trying to resurrect it.  I’m curious if it has any lineage.  I haven’t been yet, but I will be visiting there soon. Thanks

Are you asking about Vandegrift in Middletown or Winterthur in Greenville?  I ask because I think Vandegrift opened later than 1938.

I'm seeing stuff about an executive course in the early 90's called Vandegrift.

Same here...it’s not on any local aerials in the 80’s.  I think maybe the new owner has some bad information.

Vandegrift was an executive course routed through a housing development and was designed by Bruce Stanley in 1992. 


I think it survived until sometime this past decade.

It was later referred to as the Golf Academy of Delaware and the home of Bogey's Bar and Grill.

The 1938 date could be because the course was erroneously thought to be the Vandergrift GC in Vandergrift, PA which also carries a 1938 opening date.  I have played the course in PA and the greens are consistent with a course built around that time.
