It has always been reliable and easy to use but in the last few days I have been unable to upload any pictures. It just doesn't work. Anyone else having trouble?

I cancelled my Photobucket account as of Tuesday. I had a free account for years without issue. When I saw them applying watermarks on hosted photos I went and upgraded to the entry level subscription service thinking it would fix the problem. No dice! You have to upgrade to the mid-tier subscription service plan for the privilege of having the watermark removed, which is a load of crap. So I told them I wanted a refund, as I wasn't about to be forced into a more expensive plan for something I used to get for free.

I hear ya. I waited a year before I pulled the trigger. I use it enough to warrant it, plus I did a very long piece on Ballyhack that I wanted to keep current. That said, it was irritating to cough up $99 a year for it.

Dumped Photobucket a couple of years ago after many years. Now use Amazon, Google and Apple Photos for all my storage (all free - small charge for full hi-res). For posting here I copy stuff to Flickr (also free) which has the easiest bulletin board links.

I recommend this: https://www.getcloudapp.com.

The free level works pretty well and does quite a bit.

Thanks Erik and Cal! I'll be sure to check both of those applications out, as I'm looking for a replacement to Photobucket.

Modified post

Having given up on Photobucket I've opened up a free Flickr account.  Have manged to post with the following tutorial from Sean A, (Thank you),    (also see note 3 - how to avoid the software messing with your posts)

How to post photo’s from Flickr

1
To get the right URL from Flickr Start in Photostream or Folder

Left Click on to get single picture
Bottom right of screen 4 little images. Counting L-R no 3 Hover over, new box appears says “Download this photo”
Left Click and it offers a no of sizes. Left Click on the bottom one “Various sizes”
On new screen hover over photo. Right Click and on new options offered Left Click on “Copy Image Address”

2
Use this to prepare to post photo on GCA and need to insert in below

[  img width=800]..................https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/49770900301_19abb8c9b0_b.jpg...........
Then remove all the dots .............. and all the spaces EXCEPT between "img" and "width"

To show how on GCA I've also added a space after the first "[" square bracket and before the last "]"

[ img width=800]https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/49770900301_19abb8c9b0_b.jpghttp://

NB despite the pint below the software here makes it unbelievably hard to give tutorials.

3
To overcome the problem of the software resizing your text when editing or posting with text copied from another source, e.g. Word, first select the following
Click on post.  End of second line of funny little boxes (just above line of emoticons), there’s an image with red brackets in it, Hover over this and you see ‘Toggle View’. Select this with a left click.
Nothing looks different but once you use this you are OK to edit and format won’t be messed up and resized. This is good for all posting.[/img]

Tony, I signed up for a free Fickr account and followed the instructions outlined in your post. Unfortunately, when I left click on the photo I want to share here from my Photostream folder I'm not seeing the four different thumbnail images in the bottom right of the window you reference to hover third image and select "Download this Photo" from a pop-up menu. Do you have a paid Flickr account by chance that provides this feature?

MB

The steps/locations are:
1. TOP RIGHT hand corner ICON is click location for selection of pics from your source and then, uploads to your Photostream
2. once captured/uploaded into the Photostream, you'll want to engage the SHARE menu/icon at the LOWER RIGHT of the screen
3. Chose "BB" tab...which provides an address/code to be copied and pasted in GCA message boards

BUT...

4. Once you paste, try a PREVIEW and see what happens... there can be one more step
