Teeth of the Dog is brilliantly routed for sure, and definitely a joy to walk. But Punta Espada is FAR from unwalkable. A bit of a climb if you want to play the ultra-scenic way-back tee on 2 (it's worth it), a couple transitions on the longish side at around 120 yards or so, and you have to walk past the driving range at the turn. But really a very reasonable walk. Unless you're a lazy azzz.

Jason, there are multiple 300 yards gaps throughout the course & the distance between the 15th green & the 16th tee is almost a mile.

I know you play everywhere, so maybe you're thinking of the wrong course. 15-16 is indeed the longest transition, and even it isn't 300 yards. Google Maps measures it at 770 ft, or just slightly shorter than the very similar transition from 14-15 at Teeth of the Dog. A mile is 5280 ft. I can only assume that Olympic fever got you confused and you were thinking it was 1000, like the whole meters and kilometers conversion.

I haven't measured anything but I recall the transition from 15-16 being fairly short. Drive past a hotel entrance (Eden Roc maybe) and then a restroom and you're st the tee. No way it was anything near a mile.

Pretty sure that's the entrance to the Caleton Beach club (which I mentioned earlier in this thread), but either way, it's got to be around 250 yards.  Not steps from the green, but not completely unwalkable either.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but I'm heading to Punta Cana in a couple weeks and was thinking of playing one or two rounds of golf while I was there.


For those in the know, how difficult would it be to find transportation from Bavaro Beach to get to either Punta Espada or Casa de Campo?  Would I have to get a cab or do you think there is shuttle service from either course available?


I'm headed down with my family and at the present time, not planning to bring my clubs with me but my wife insists that I play a round or two while I'm down there.  We aren't renting a car when we're down there either so I'm just wondering if it's feasible to venture that far off the resort when I don't have my own transportation.


Any help/thoughts/advice would be appreciated.

   Check out Prestige Limos.  Very reliable service.  Or rent a car from Prestige Car rentals.  Easily your cheapest option, and roads very easy to navigate.  Less than a hour to CdC.

Played both while staying at Bávaro back on my honeymoon.


The club set up transport to Punta Espada and we rented a car for a day trip down to Casa de Campo. It worth hanging out after golf and looking around the property including the marina and hill town village overlooking Dye Fore and the river below.

My experience was similar to Greg's.  The resort activity desk arranged for the tee time and transportation to Punta Espada from Bavaro Beach.  I played in the early afternoon, and received a good discount as a result.  I was back in time for dinner at the resort.


My understanding is the drive down to La Romana is a pretty easy one and takes about an hour.  I played the Teeth on an earlier visit.  Dye Fore was not yet built, but I also recommend checking out the views from the hills down to the Chavon River while you are in La Romana.  There was an old church in the town that provided an excellent view.
