What is the Stow Acres story?
« on: February 12, 2020, 01:35:52 PM »
I've seen Stow Acres credited to Geoffrey Cornish.  I've also read that the South course there dates back to the 1920's.

In 1926 Mapledale G&CC designed by Ralph Thomas opened in Stow.

Aug. 15, 1926 Indianapolis Star -

Was this the same course?  Did Cornish build an entirely new course or did he renovate the existing Thomas design?

Sven,

It's tough to see on my phone but it looks very possible that 9 holes may have been already there in a 1938 aerial.   historicaerials.com

One thing I can tell you is that the course I played it is one of the tightest courses I have ever experienced.  Not sure which one it was.
