OT: Setting up a practice area
« on: March 25, 2020, 02:19:45 PM »
I have been thinking of doing this for awhile.  While I would love to do a full trackman and simulator, for now it looks like simply a net and mat.

So I am throwing it out to the group if you have any recommendations for a good quality net and mat.  I am thinking of either doing it in my garage or I do have a great outdoor space hitting off my covered patio.

Strongly recommend archery netting: the stuff lasts FOREVER and you'll never worry about a ball going through.

Something like this: https://www.westcoastnetting.com/archery-b/ or https://www.networldsports.com/custom-sized-archery-netting.html. You can build the top and side walls out of regular golf netting, but I strongly recommend the hitting area being this. If you get it in a square shape, you can rotate it around too after a few years to distribute the wear.

We have archery netting downtown at Golf Evolution after people made holes and hit balls through TWO layers of regular "golf netting" within about a year or two.

Edit: You could consider a Mevo+, then, too. I recommend it over a SkyTrak.
