Would you?

Assume that you could afford to retire but also assume that you like your job. Would you retire in order to be able to travel to play more golf?

In a heartbeat.  But to tell you the truth, my actual travel might be for a lot of other things besides golf.

The deal for me golf-wise is that cutting loose the job would free up the time to play enough rounds per year to properly justify a club membership I've been wanting (and there's an affordable club right near me with a very nice and relatively untouched Ross -- perfect to grow old on).
O fools!  who drudge from morn til night
And dream your way of life is wise,
Come hither!  prove a happier plight,
The golfer lives in Paradise!

Don't do it, Ira!
You love to travel and play golf is because it's such a welcomed break from the pressures of your job.
But take away the job and suddenly *everything* is a break from its pressures, all the time.
And in that context neither golf nor travel will seem very special anymore.
But by then you won't have a job you enjoy to fill the time.

Yes.  I did exactly that. Only one regret. I pulled the trigger 5 years late.

I retired so I could quit traveling to play golf.
