I'll take the opposite route and let you know about what may be the worst new clubhouse. I'll certainly not mention the club by name, because I still have a lot of friends there.
The "old" clubhouse was a cozy, intimate, cottage style very much in tune with the area's surrounding architecture. However, it had numerous safety issues (especially with wiring), and the kitchen was way too small.
So, we built a new clubhouse. I personally voted for the clubhouse - it looked great on paper.
We spent a year using our car trunks as our individual lockers and anxiously awaited the new building.
Boy, was I disappointed. As another former member said, "they built a Holiday Inn banquet room with a locker room". The lockers were beautiful wood - the pro shop was first rate.
But the clubhouse lacked character. It lacked life. They "forgot" to put in a sound system of any kind, so you could hear every word of every member in the dining room. Worst of all, the dining room was usually nearly empty, making you feel pretty foolish if you just wanted a burger after the round. (The grill was pretty sterile too.)
I guess you could say that they built it like those "McMansions" you see popping up. They can be great, but they can be very sterile too if they don't get TLC from their owners.
I only mention this because newer doesn't necessarily mean better.
