« on: November 11, 2019, 10:54:07 PM »
To mark the occasion of an esteemed Aussie visitor, Chris Kane, a few of us will be gathering for dinner on Monday, November 18 in the downtown SF/Union Square area. If you'd like to join, message me on here/phone/text/email/carrier pigeon.

Crazy! What are the odds of an esteemed Aussie visitor AND Chris Kane both being in San Fran at the same time?!

Dinnertime, 6:30 give or take? Depending on people's availability after work.

Scott, cheap shots like this from Sydney’s finest are why Melburnians must travel to California to receive a respectful welcome!  ;D

Looking forward to meeting you Kevin!

We're planning on Johnny Foley's, very close to Powell Street BART, on Monday at probably 6:30. Please let me know if you want to attend as we will be reserving a table of appropriate size.

From left to right: me, Lov Goel (lurker), David Tepper, Patrick Kiser, Howard Riefs, Chris Kane, and Kevin Reilly at Johnny Foley's in downtown San Francisco. Good times and good Irish drinks were had!

A great time!  Thanks Matt for organizing, and to all who might think that the table was "empty"...we cleared the table before the picture.  The restaurant owner (friend of Matt's) supplied us with plenty of Ireland's finest beverages throughout.

Have a great tour, Chris.

What a great group. Hope you all had a wonderful night. Hope to see some of you down this way (Australia) soon!

Great to see the usual suspects + meet Chris and Lov.  Sounded like an awesome lineup for Chris.
Thanks to Matt for coordinating.

Oh yes, we’re playing Gleneagles 9 this morning and Lincoln Park on Friday!

Joking obviously. I’ve actually got a pretty good lineup set for him this week - he’s staying with me. He’ll play five good ones I’ll join them for three or four of those. You might see some of his updates!

Matt, which 5 will he play?  I'm interested in which courses a SF-area expert like you would direct someone like Chris.

Many thanks to Matt for coordinating dinner and it was great to meet you all. Chris is in for a solid tour of the Bay Area’s finest courses.

Chris did SFGC yesterday. From Thursday we have Meadow, Mayacama, Cal (he was there 5 years ago), and Harding. He’s seen Olympic and Pasatiempo so he’ll have seen all of the most important courses north of Pebble, I think.

Gib,

The open call did go out a week in advance, but maybe C-listers typically need more notice due to scheduling conflicts!  ;D

We finished with a round at Harding Park this morning and Chris is off for the rest of his trip in a couple of hours. The rough at Harding is getting pretty serious and it's nowhere near May. I'll post some pictures tonight, but we had glorious weather and conditions for Meadow Club, Mayacama, and Cal Club, and good if a bit breezy for SFGC (just Chris) and Harding this morning.

I certainly drink more alcohol when Aussies are in town than when they're not...

Hopefully Chris will post his thoughts here in the coming days.

Chris, truly a pleasure to have you out.   What a great day.

Also amazing to see how many friends are on this site with whom I've managed to play a round or two.  Looking forward to continuing our conversations here, and hopefully over many more games.
