Thanks. I was showing some guys who had played there and we couldn’t figure it out. Makes sense from the new angle

I had quite a big zoom lens on that day which really compresses perspective.

Cypress Point

Not actually seen this one but I am frequently amazed that benches are not lined up to allow you to look forward.  Mostly they are used when play is held up on shorter holes when watching the misfortunes of those in front is half the fun.

Recently spent a very pleasant 10 mins watching the 13th(?) green at Cavendish with Duncan C. It was a good time in the round to take stock and enjoy the difficulty of the second and even third shots to the par 3 of those ahead of us.

Tony,
Fortunately that bench on 17 at Cypress Point is oriented to allow you to watch people on the 16th behind you, which provides ample entertainment.    ;D

Many thanks to you and others.  John you have probably sat in or photographed the top 100 benches in the world of golf.

Lynn,

Perhaps. Depends on which magazine's list you are referring to.  :D
Check back later today. I'll post two more categories of benches.

Sean,
Thanks for those - especially the Kilspindie truck stop.

Thanks John and everyone.  Simple elegance, usually reflecting the course they are on.

As I looked at pictures, I also noticed benches that do double duty (say as part of shelters) as well as non-benches that can provide a place for a quick rest.
