Everyone knows The Women's Open Championship is played in the US. Therefore, it was necessary to disambiguate the reference.

Whatever about the argument of the (men’s) Open Championship vs British Open Championship, the women’s version is 30 years younger than the equivalent in the States so  I think the word British is mandatory in this case.

The title of the event is the Women’s British Open so it’s a non argument.

Perhaps the 2021 version should be called "The British Women's Open from Wales" and the 2020 event, due to be held at Royal Troon, called "The British Women's Open from Scotland"?!!
Royal Troon of course has only allowed women members since 2016 and terminology is itself a strange thing given that the event is part of the Ladies PGA Tour and Ladies European Tour.

I loved my one and only play there about ten years ago. The turf and the bunkering stand out. It will be a great venue for the AIG Women's British Open.

Something that I've been thinking about for a while- why has this style never truly been attempted in the US?  RP has a style of its own of course, but this style in general is what I'm talking about.

Most Americans have no idea how to get out of a revetted bunker.  Mike Keiser did not want them at Bandon Dunes for precisely that reason.

The photo you posted is of the very short par-3 7th, a relatively new hole at RPGC. For par-3 evilness have a look at the bunkering surrounding the par-3 14th, a Colt original hole apparently. Nasty, nasty, nasty, but in a delightful way. 64* probably more likely to be successful than a hickory niblick!

What do you mean?  Its an explosion shot just as is the case in the US with sandy bunkers.

I played a few European Senior Tour events at Porthcawl.
If you went into a bunker you hoped you could 1/ Stand in the bunker, 2/ Swing and 3/ Go forwards.
All three was a bonus.

You definitely don't hear too much about it and it evades a lot of golf trips- maybe due to it being in Wales?  But it certainly is photogenic.  I need a Royal Porthcawl wall calendar...
