Which story I've told so many I forget. The best Woodcrest one would shut down the site. From age 11 to 18, when I left for PV the first hole was what is now #10.
Mike C. The old number one (now ten) was wide open back in the day. Just need to thin out all the pine trees that have grown over the last 40-50 years. Woodcrest is tight, but the old front nine gave you a side to miss it on. By the time you got to ten, you were warmed up and ready to fit a couple really tight tee shots. I'm not a fan of the first shot of the day being the tightest, with a hazard on both sides, just silly to me.
Also given the back nine is now the harder one with a nasty five par with OB and a fronting hazard as the finisher it makes for lots of trunk slamming. Oops no extra beverages and camaraderie today lol. Much better to see your players shoot 47/42 =89 than the opposite.
I love Woodcrest for many reasons, but really would love to see them flip those nines around!
