1. The people. I have never seen a golfer take a picture without a smile on his face. I love the positive energy they bring to the course.

2. The toys. The only thing I love more than getting a new toy for myself or a loved one is watching a grown man play with his.

Interesting take. When I encounter a good writer photos are a poor substitute. I dream of writing skills which are aided by 6-10 photos. The Great Bernardo had it right, maybe one painting per course.

10. A celebration of the better angels of our nature. Done well and with care, they glowingly reflect both the photographer's generosity of spirit as well as his love for the subject.

I am contratually obligated to list 10 items so off list let me add Silence. It's what a photograph doesn't say that reveals the depth of it's subject.

10. And with the Silence the Stillness too - providing the comforting (and poignant) illusion of permanence in this our realm of constant change and of the ever-fleeting.
Thanks, John, for providing me the opportunity to express my gratitude to our many fine photographers.

The spreading of ideas - education
Historical records
Learning curve - photographing holes from different angles gives a greater appreciation of how the hole was designed and constructed and what’s the best way to play it.

John, refresh my memory, but weren't you the guy who not long ago bashed photographers on the course?

I made a mistake this morning related to the field of photography and subjected myself to a penance of saying 10 nice things about photography on a public forum. I don't believe I will ever make that mistake again.

John,

Excellent thread my man, nice work!

My #1 thing is a great golf course photo always conveys far more feelings/expression/beauty than I ever could.
