And efforts to recreate the course. Hope they do a good job!

I missed it. Any updates about the effort to recreate it at Streamsong? Looks like they finally abandoned the trademark: https://trademarks.justia.com/864/81/the-lido-at-86481901.html

The piece only dealt with Lido, nothing about Streamsong. But they did a GREAT job with the piece! Jim Urbina and golf historian Connor Lewis are interviewed throughout the piece and they do a great job.

The best part was the superimposing of Macdonald's holes on the site as it exists today! Amazingly cool to see the Biarritz parallel the ocean, for example. They "show" us the Cape, Eden and Mackenzie's prize-winning design.

You simply have to find a way to see this again!

I absolutely will. I have been incredibly critical of Golf Channel for the fact that they don't have one single regularly scheduled program dedicated entirely to golf course architecture — probably the most unique aspect of the sport. I rarely ever watch them anymore unless a major event is being played, but it sounds like they are getting better and better when it comes to the architecture issue. Though, I won't be satisfied until they have an entire, serious-minded show dedicated to it. Not just segments within other programs.

Gosh, imagine if 20 years ago I told you that a 24/7 cable network dedicated entirely to golf would choose Tin Cup re-runs over a show dedicated to golf courses.

 8) ???

Thanks Peter for giving the link to the Lido piece. Really looks incredible. For someone familiar with the site could you but the original ground back for a price or has too much been developed. The high school is an obvious issue. Wonder if the environmentalists or bureaucrats would allow it to be rebuilt.

 Gotta get Bobby Axlerod involved

It's almost entirely developed.  You could theoretically rebuild the 8th hole and the 9th, but that is all.   The rest is mostly dense housing.

The best you could theoretically do would be to use the other Lido course next door and have a little crossover to the beach section of the original.

Thanks Peter
