When the bunkers are that pure and consistent, the pros don’t seem to mind being in them.
No question it was a great shot and judging distance out of a bunker like that is genius. But I think they practice shots like that due to scale of bunkering at ANGC.
Just saw (on TV) Jon Rahm hit a 30 yard bunker shot to 18” on #4.
Brooks Koepka just hit a 35+ yard bunker shot on #2 to 6’ and made birdie.
I would prefer seeing bunkers not raked so they are actually hazards.
With modern sand, great drainage and new methodologies, one often hears “Get in the bunker!”, from today’s pros upon hitting a shot awry.
