Golfwrx website update - not impressed
« on: March 20, 2019, 02:17:31 PM »
Some of us here check out GolfWRX and they just redid their forum and I'm not impressed thus far.  Doesn't seem nearly as user friendly and the viewing is not condensed at all.  Perhaps they have more planned, but thus far I preferred the old format.

Good question, maybe that is something they changed.  I was able to login etc. It is a massive change in look, feel and navigation of the website forum.  Not intuitive and perhaps this will all get easier, but it does seem less user friendly to me as a middle of the road tech guy at best.

You should consider using their featured writer section. I know that I personally find your world view refreshing and it deserves a larger audience. I thin RoMo has written a few excellent pieces.

Wouldn't the golfwrx forum be the appropriate place for this observation? I don't see the connection to golf architecture and this discussion group.

Thanks John.... there are several on here that I see regularly over there. RoMo would be in demand anywhere he wants to write definitely.

Jeff,I agree; the new format is off-putting at least so far.  Perhaps I'll get used to it.
I spend a lot of time over there, and have for years.  I must say that the tone of discussion there descends to the crabbiness and scolding that seems to be so common here now.  There are a couple of posts already on this thread that make that point nicely, I think.

Edit:  Jeff, you may have seen this by now, but there is a large "disclaimer" banner at the top of the page on golf.wrx to the effect that the site will gradually be changed and become more user friendly.  Apparently, the old software was dying fast because of the community size, and they had to roll out the new stuff before it was 100% ready.

Well, I've been over there so long, I just received an e-mail notification that I've earned the "Ancient Membership Badge."  Unfortunately, they could have just stopped at "Ancient!"

Thanks for the compliments. I'm blushing as I celebrate Jennifer Kupchow's win for Wake today. She'll be in my Tour Rundown this week, for certain.

I've found my editor to be receptive to fairly-frequent architectural pieces. If you hit every niche audience in the year, you have a chance of establishing yourself as a space for enthusiasts. I don't have time to participate in the fora there; they are diverse, and as enthusiastic as this one.

Tim, et al., probably an OT at best, but thanks for your collaboration.
