A new course opens in Delaware after 12 years !!!!

The 12-year wait for tee time is almost over at a public golf course in Middletown with rolling, Scotland-like hills, eight different water features and stunning views.
The Links at St. Anne’s, a Alan Liddicoat-designed course that’s been on the drawing board since 2006, will open with 12 holes by the end of June. The course will add four more holes by the end of July and two more by this fall. In the meantime, construction begins today on a pool house and family-friendly restaurant/pub next to the clubhouse.

Kudos on building a walkable, affordable, brand new course, especially one that is nine out and nine in—in suburban Delaware.


Once the holes are grown in, I would gladly check it out.

I’ve played there twice recently and I thought that it had a lot of potential with the design. It was fun to play and interesting except for the excessive native grass that is the wrong species and wayyyyyy too much of it.  I lost a ball less than 10 yards off the fairway.  That’s unacceptable to me for a volume public course, or any for that matter.  Another problem is that they don’t have nearly [size=78%]enough of a budget to keep that property up the way it needs in order to shine.  Maybe that will change...who knows but overall it was a pretty good course.[/size]
