Seems to me that Billy Payne is very worthy of inclusion. Didn't he basically lead the charge to implement the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship, the Latin America Amateur Championship, and the Drive, Chip & Putt Championship? I think and hope those three contests will lead to many more people taking up the game. And while it's not starting on his watch, I bet he was the leader in having ANGC host the Augusta National Women's Amateur in a few months.
And while some might say "well, he was the chairman of ANGC, so he was automatically in a position to be taken seriously with these things"...then why did none of the chairmen before him do those things? Why did no one at the R & A or USGA do those things? The fact that Mr. Payne brought those two organizations in to be partners with ANGC does not diminish the fact that Mr. Payne was the leader.
Wilt Chamberlain and Shaquille O'Neal also had serious advantages, but they're in the hall of fame because they took those advantages and made them work.
As far as Mike Keiser is concerned, I am a huge fan of his, and I look forward to the day when he is in the hall of fame. It will be well-deserved for what he has done for the game, I think.
