GolfClubAtlas.com: Now 7 for 7
« on: February 03, 2019, 07:23:30 AM »
There are seven continents. Though twenty years old, the feared GolfClubAtlas logo had only been seen on six of them - until this past week.

Beloved wife of Eric Carrier, local Pinehurst resident, and avid golfer, Linda Carrier decided to run a marathon on each continent … on consecutive days.  :o Yes, you can’t make this up.

In doing so,  she accomplishes the impossible which is to make Paul Rudovsky look normal, or perhaps even a couch potato.  Naturally, I thought about doing it with her but a conflict arose: my local grocery store gives discounts on Wednesdays to seniors 55 and older and I didn’t want to miss out on purchasing Talenti gelato at bargain pricing.
Linda completed the first marathon on Antarctica this past Thursday.

Like any elite athlete, after the race, Linda immediately donned her GolfClubAtlas shirt in order to relax in style and comfort.

I have never seen a 'Top 10 Courses to play when in Antarctica’ list. Where Linda ran appears to be flat and featureless with poor soil, and I foresee issues arising with the irrigation system. Bill Coore would want more land.  8)

A color golf ball is a shrewd idea.

I contacted ESPN to see when the article would run about GCA going 7 for 7 but they explained all the reporters are at some football game today. I raised my voice a bit and explained that this is the first continent on which a poorly played shot has NOT occurred under the GCA banner  :-[ but that didn't seem to galvanize them into action either.

Departing Antarctica, Linda flew to Cape Town, ran a marathon there, then Perth, and is en route to Dubai…. Truly insane but Linda, THANK YOU for 'planting' the GCA logo on Antarctica and hurry home safely!

I remember Eric (now known as husband of Linda) telling me about this marathon "event" last summer and not quite believing him. It is still unbelievable so the photos are a great help in that regard.  Very fine Linda, very fine.

I am honored to just be mentioned in the same breath!!  Linda...simply amazing...enjoy the run, smell the daisies along the way (especially the summer buds on Antartica), and safe journey.  Doing stuff like you are doing proves that people can accomplish about anything if they decide to do it.

I just showed this post to my bride Pat to prove how normal I really am!!  Here response is not printable...but to Linda she says "you go, girl!!!!"

Great post Ran! I became friends with Eric last year while working in Pinehurst last year. I remember being stunned when I heard her talk about the 7-7-7 at gca headquarters. Crazy stuff! I’ve been following her via Eric’s texts. She has been getting fast as she goes!

It took until Perth for MickleStix to make its first Southern Hemisphere appearance and now off to Dubai. My favorite playing partner is awesome.

Fantastic achievement indeed....and the running thing is impressive too.  ;D
