Aren't Hoylake and Birkdale closer to you for your Saturday trips? ;)

Er, yes.

Membership at any of the Lancashire links course however, is well outside my budget!

Wallasey is on the cusp of being affordable, and I briefly considered it earlier this year before plumping for Cavendish.

Very attractive propositions are Conwy and Prestatyn, 90 and 80 minutes away respectively. I could have memberships at either and remain at Cavendish for around a grand a year.

Ah, alas the demise of the Artisan's Club.

To be serious though it was a very much tongue in cheek comment though by the time you recon in time and fuel would Silloth be so much cheaper?

We'll see where my son Dan ends up going to Uni later this year. He's hoping for St Andrews or Edinburgh.  I believe there are some decent golfing opportunities in the vicinity of either...

As I celebrate a significant birthday this week I have finally treated myself to full membership at Silloth.

I would be delighted to host any GCAer who wants to play this magnificent links course. All I ask is that you pick me up at Carlisle railway station and save me the bus ride!

Seeing this topic for the first time and thinking how fortunate am I that this country boy from Tennessee has actually played both of these courses?! I'll say it again - thanks, GCA! Thanks, Ran!

I still have to repay your kindness at Cavendish - come up anytime once things open a bit more!

Count the Scottish contingent in just as soon as Sturgeonically possible. Parring the fourteenth last time round ranks among my very highest golfing achievements, which, admittedly, fall somewhat short of my playing partners already low expectations.

Washed the people coal-black from the hole in the ground.

Duncan,

Same applies from me too. You’ll have more games at NB than you know what to do with...not that that’s a bad thing!  ;D

Hopefully see you again soon.
